Rizzo’s Fine Pizza in Astoria has been serving up its famous thin-crust Sicilian slices since 1959, and it’s easy to see why locals keep coming back. Tucked away on Steinway Street in an unassuming storefront, this neighborhood favorite is known for its square slices with ultra-crispy, light crusts, zesty tomato sauce, and a perfect blend of mozzarella, parmigiana, and romano.
While Rizzo's also serves the more familiar round slice, it's their square slice that they're most known for. It’s not your typical heavy New York slice—Rizzo’s version is thinner, crispier, with an almost buttery crust and a kind of "tomato pie" vibe (even though it has cheese). The classic cheese slice is made with low-moisture mozzerleaa, but they also have the more cheese-intense Quatro Formaggio (four cheese) and some great specialty options like the pepperoni and jalapeño.
Over the years, the shop has expanded its menu, but it’s stayed true to its roots with quality ingredients. The new owner Christian is a former employee who has continued the unique tradition of the original Rizzo's.
